Dr Charles Goldenbeld carries out research into, among other subjects, traffic behaviour, enforcement, and public information and campaigns. He also engages in research into the monitoring of alcohol and drugs in traffic and the communication thereof. Charles is currently involved in the worldwide survey on road user attitudes ESRA3, and a national survey on the acceptability of Intelligent Speed Assistance. In the (recent) past, he contributed to many other international projects such as ESCAPE, SARTRE, DACOTA, PEPPER, SUNFLOWER, SafetyNet, SafetyCube, SaferAfrica, and LEVITATE.
In 1992, Charles Goldenbeld obtained his PhD at Utrecht University on the thesis “Agressie na provocatie: de effecten van modelgedrag en verantwoordingsverplichting op de agressieve reacties van mannen en vrouwen in groepen” (Aggression after provocation: the effects of model behaviour and accountability obligation on the aggressive reactions of men and women in groups).
