Abstract

Passengers cars, including compacts, accounted for nearly 90% of all vehicles involved in both single and multiple car (two or more motor vehicles) accidents for the period January through October 1963. Truck and tractors were involved in about 8% of all these accidents. Multiple car accidents accounted for 80% of all accidents reported from January through October 1963, 72% of non-fatal and 89% of property damage accidents. Single car mishaps comprised 71% of all fatal accidents for the reporting period.
