Abstract

A fundamental objective of the study has been the development of a digital computer simulation of the bicycle/rider system. The simulation consists of three basic models: the dynamics of the bicycle: the generation of tyre lateral forces, and a closed-loop path-following rider control model. The mathematical model of the bicycle/rider system has eight degrees of freedom of motion including rider steering and leaning.
