Abstract

A theoretical approach to the relation between extra stops and the fuel consumption of motor cars is presented. Calculation is made of the amount of fuel wasted at every additional stop, given the constant speed of the traffic flow without the interruption. Emphasis is laid on the fact that also the fuel consumption should be considered in traffic management schemes.
