Abstract
The conflict method or near miss method can be used for recording the insecurity of traffic on separate locations and at specific traffic situations, or regarding participating with traffic under different conditions if none or not sufficient or not reliable information on traffic accidents is available. The applicability and reliability of the method are discussed. The international cooperation in traffic safety research is mentioned.
