Abstract

Weather problems, like strong rains, wind and especially snow, suppose animportant problem to traffic flow. The special characteristics of weatherproblems, with a big area of influence, long time effects and difficult forecast, implies the coordinated actuation of different national organisations (traffic managers, maintenance works, traffic police, etc) These problems could be increased when the incident location is nearby a cross border area. In this case, the coordination between different countries and their organisations is necessary. This kind of coordination presents different problems. The main purpose of this paper is to present the traffic management plans in case of weather problems and the strategies for integratinginformation and coordinating the different international authorities thatparticipate in the ARTS project.
