Mathematical determination of warrants for pedestrian crossings.

Abstract

In determining warrants for pedestrian crossings certain assumptions must be made at the outset. The most vital one is the pedestrian walking speed. The other important assumption is that both vehicles and pedestrians are a random flow and hence subject to mathematical probabilities of the "Poisson" distribution.
