Abstract

Data are given on pedestrian and cycle trips from traffic surveys in the London traffic survey area, central London, Stevenage and Leamington Spa. It is shown that the proportion of the total trips of a given length that are made by walking is a consistent function of distance for the areas considered. Use of this function to generate a synthetic pedestrian trip matrix from known car and bus trip matrices is proposed. (Author/publisher)
