Abstract

The Run-Off-Road Collision Avoidance Using IVHS Countermeasures program is to address the single vehicle crash problem through application of technology to prevent and/or reduce the severity of these crashes. This report contains a summary of data used in the clinical analysis conducted in Task 1. The data were extracted from the National Accident Sampling System (NASS) Crashworthiness Data System (CDS) cases selected for analysis. All NASS cases were selected from the 1993 NASS CDS data file. Each case is described by a data summary sheet, which contains descriptive data on the crash, a narrative of what occurred in the crash, a scene diagram illustrating the crash site with the vehicle's trajectory, and a situation tree summarizing the crash sequence.
