Abstract

Under the provisions of part I of the Road Safety Act 1967, it is an offence for a person to drive or attempt to drive a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such quantity that the proportion in his blood, as ascertained from a laboratory, exceeds the prescribed limit. The part played by the forensic science laboratories of England and Wales in the enforcement of this new road safety legislation is reviewed.
