Abstract

In this article, the authors briefly describe the Traffic Safety Systems (TSS) speed camera equipment introduced into Oxfordshire in August 1994. The equipment consists of a video camera and detection unit, the camera being triggered by piezometric tubes buried beneath the road surface. The camera unit may be either mounted on a roadside tripod or within an unmarked police vehicle. Signing site selection, results and costs are briefly reported.
