Abstract

An oxidation of the alcohol by an appropriate oxidising agent and in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst: Palladium is proposed. Systematic experiment have been made and controlled by gas chromatography. They show under well defined condition, that the reaction is reproducible although not quantitative, and the quantity of aldehyde formed is proportional to that of the alcohol in the breath.
