Abstract

The main cause of accidents at night is bad visibility. Road lighting conditions at night are discussed. Lighting level and uniformity and degree of glare. Night time visibility is influenced by lighting conditions. A literature review supports the fact that good quality road lighting has beneficial effects on traffic safety.
