Abstract

Driver limitation may be created by a single major or multiple minor disturbances, and the problems of vision should be subdivided into class levels according to responsibility and risk under which drivers operate. Therefore, medical assessment of visual limitations should be divided into 1) generally recognized visual malfunctions significant both to daytime and nighttime driving; 2) those malfunctions peculiar to driving under low vision or nighttime conditions.
