Samenvatting
Problems in general of road safety research, road accidents and costs are discussed. Statistical information and details are presented from Swedish sources. Main attention is focussed on the relation between road and accident, with factors such as road type, width of road, bends, sight conditions, speed, road surface characteristics, and the effect of safety measures such as maximum speed and lighting.
