Abstract
As of June 11 1973, a fleet of 100 Chevrolet Impalas equipped with front seat air bag restraint systems have accumulated 101 accidents and 8.1 million miles of operation. There have been three accidents severe enough to cause deployment of the air bags, and case reports are presented. Results of impact tests involving the air bag restraint system are presented.
