Abstract

Two telephone questionnaire surveys, the first of NSW car occupants and the second of parent/carers of child occupants, were carried out on behalf of the Roads and Traffic Authority during 1989. The survey examined the attitudes and knowledge of people toward occupant restraints. The major results in the areas of reported wearing, adjustment and comfort, safety, attitudes, legal issues, and type of child restraint used, are examined and discussed in light of future strategies and research. Target groups for future campaign strategies are outlined (A).
