Abstract

The National Sleep Foundation commissioned WB&A Market Research to conduct a national survey among adults in the United States — the 2002 “Sleep in America” Poll. The primary objectives of this research were to answer the following questions of adults residing in the United States: 1. What are the sleep habits of American adults? 2. How do adults’ sleep habits relate to daytime performance, activities, and moods? 3. How many and how often do adults experience various types of sleep disorders? 4. What types of sleep medications do adults use to treat their sleep disorders? 5. What are their experiences with driving drowsy? 6. What are the public’s opinions about sleep-related policies? 7. What are the effects of the September 11 tragedy on Americans’ sleep habits? What follows are the results of the 2002 “Sleep in America” Poll. (Author/publisher)
