Abstract

This research note presents the estimates of alcohol-impaired driving fatalities for 2007 from NHTSA's Fatality Analysis Reporting Systems (FARS). This note is organized into four major sections. The first section discusses alcohol-impaired driving fatalities and the fatality rates for 2007 and compares it with the estimates for 2006, and also presents long-term trends. The second section examines the characteristics (age, gender, etc.) of alcohol-impaired drivers (blood Alcohol concentration [BAC] = .08 [g/dL] or higher), while the third and fourth sections present the same statistics by State.
