Abstract

In this paper, fading propagation characteristics of 60 GHz band millimeter wave between running two vehicles on an expressway for design of inter-vehicle communication systems in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is expressed. Received powers and bit error rates of 1 Mbps data transmission were measured between running two vehicles on the same lane of the expressway. The authors discuss the cumulative distribution of received power between two running vehicles on the expressway from the comparison between the measured result and induced result using proposed two-ray propagation model with consideration of the vertical fluctuation of running vehicles.
