Abstract

In June 1971 a general speed limit of 70 km/h was introduced in Sweden for all roads outside the built-up areas with the exception of some highways for width the limit was set at 90 or 110 km/h depending on road with and average daily traffic. The effect of this speed limit on both accidents and speeds were studied during the period of one year after which the results were presented.
