Abstract

An experimental evaluation of the Automobile Association (AA) secondary school driver training programme was conducted incorporating random assignment and the comparison of driving records 18 months after licensing. Sample sizes were 561 for the experimental (AA) group and 227 for the control group. The criteria used in the evaluation were self-report accidents and traffic offence notices. The official accident and conviction records were also examined.
