Abstract

In a research on a number of outdoor recreation projects the approved cabinet of instruments for traffic engineering was applied. The deviation of proceeding traffic volumes on recreational roads urges for an adapted design of mechanical and visual traffic counts. A continuous mechanical count during a calender year is recommended. For visual count three types of days (weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays) and four seasons should be distinguished. For each daytype and for each season two observations are needed.
