Abstract

In selecting new interior design for the underground railway trains layout of seating, high or low occupancy are criteria to consider. A high number of seats per vehicle has the purpose that the chance for no available seats is less, but the chance that a passenger can not enter because the vehicle is full already is bigger, and the speed will be lower because there are less doors, by which the metro has to made a longer stop. Only by selecting the interior design simultaneously with the number of vehicles available, the average number of passengers during peak hours, an optimum choice can be made.
