Abstract

The results of a surveillance method used in 1988 to ascertain the development of the seat belt usage in the Netherlands show an increase of 7% as regards 1987 and is now 77% outside built up areas and 63% inside built- up areas. The whole increase can be attributed to the increase in two provinces in which a publicity campaign was held.
