Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 65 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the design and performance of anti-lock braking systems (ABS) for cars, light trucks, heavy vehicles and motorcycles. Topics covered include studies of the effect of ABS on braking distances, steering stability during braking and effects on collision risk on wet and dry roads. Articles are also included on the effects of ABS on driver behaviour and accident rates, modelling and simulation of ABS, and on various technical developments. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2001 and 2005. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
