Abstract

Previously unlicensed applicants for a California drivers license are currently required to pass a vision test, a written examination covering the vehicle code and a driving test. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of making the drive test more difficult. The study provided no support for the hypothesis that increasing the level of difficulty or the complexity of the present drive test would have any impact on traffic safety.
