Abstract

Active safety when the car is travelling, perception and manoeuvres are considered. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the main cause of accidents is the driver and not technical vehicle defects. During travelling, the EEC guideline regarding braking is a step in the right direction but further directives concerning vehicle behaviour on all types of road and tyres should be developed Attention is drawn to the need for more precise and uniform accident statistics.
