Abstract

The paper reports the identification of that information useful to define system concept and requirements starting from the analysis of the accident statistics of some European countries. This activity has been planned within the project called CHAMELEON (Pre-crash application all around the vehicle); a project founded by the DG XIIIC of EC and belonging to the fifth framework research programme. Chameleon project aims to study sensors and applications capable of improving the performance of the existing safety systems (Airbag and safety belt mainly) and to integrate other ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) applications of the future.
