Abstract

Road safety in Hungary has improved during the last two years. This due to different legislative amendments, new regulations, intensified enforcement, etc., which were prepared and initiated between 1990-92 and implemented in 1993. The situation is, however, far from satisfactory for which reason the government and especially the road and traffic authorities have been keen to commence new road safety improvement projects. This presentation is based on a project that has been commenced in Hungary within the Second World Bank Highway Project.
