Abstract

The classical approach to estimating accident rates, and to testing the statistical significance of changes in accident rate, involves interpreting accident count data relating to a specific site over an extended period of time. An alternative approach, involving the analysis of accident data relating to groups of sites over a shorter period, has been proposed.
