Abstract

An analysis of accidents to evaluate the effectiveness of traffic controls at intersections in an effort to develop new traffic control warrants, is presented. A quantitative means of comparing accident histories at intersections is discussed. An accident evaluation index is computed by using a percentage distribution of accidents by the following types: pedestrian, right-angle, rear end, left-turn, and all others.
