Abstract

In order to get the best quality and accuracy of traffic accident data, data should be collected as close as possible to the accident scene and thepeople involved, preferably by authorities (police and hospitals) doing interviews with the people involved. For presentation and accident analysisto be possible for traffic analysts and others the information needs to be geocoded using GIS (Geographical Information System) for reporting as well as data retrieval. For statistics and analysis, standard office systemslike MS Excel are most often good enough. This session will focus on the possibilities of doing accident presentation and analysis using web-based tools to connect accident data and digital maps.
