Abstract

The behavioural predispositions of accident investigators seem to offer the potential of adversely affecting the outcome of accident investigations. When selected findings from behavioural research are compared with the types of mistakes made by traffic accident investigators, there appear to be parallels worthy of attention. The potential for bias needs to be carefully researched with a view toward development of investigator training to avoid predictable errors in accident reconstruction.
