Abstract

Research into driver behaviour carried out at TRRL is described and the link between such studies and accident prevention is demonstrated. Accident record analysis is used to study the behaviour of a large number of drivers together with the technique of conflict study and analysis of driver behaviour at rural intersections. Two methods which are employed at TRRL are described. Details of the technique of in-car observation of driver behaviour are also given.
