Abstract

The 1998 SAE International Congress and Exposition included the two-day session focusing on investigating, documenting, and analyzing motor vehicle collisions. This volume contains those papers that were presented at this session along with several papers that were not presented, but are included as new and evolving research in the field of accident reconstruction and computer visualization of motor vehicle crashes. This SAE Special Publication (SP-1319) contains technical papers on a variety of subjects to the motor vehicle safety community. Some of the topics included in the publication are: computer generated images used in accident reconstruction, vehicle rollovers, crash severity, vehicle crush, door latches, heavy trucks, tire friction, braking, tire blow-outs, school bus accidents, and analysis techniques.
