Abstract

Most accidental injuries are related to transport, occupation or domestic life. A relatively small number fall outside this classification: Recreational accidents, falls in the street and drowning are examples of these. 40% of accidental deaths in England and Wales occur in and around the home, another 40% are caused by road transport, and 5% are occupational. General features of accident causation and prevention are discussed briefly.
