Abstract

This report consists of the extraction and analysis of relevant data from recent Road Accident Facts Reports and a detailed examination of selected accident report forms. The study does not include field surveys or traffic counts and so conclusions can only be based on data contained in the accident report forms, such as action of pedestrian, type of vehicle, vehicle manoeuvre, time of occurrence etc. Relative accident rates on different types of road layout, for instance, would involve a much more detailed study.
