Abstract

This report deals with the effect of the layout and the traffic flow on the frequency of 'junction' type accidents resulting in personal injury at 139 total 3-way junctions. 'Junction' type accidents are those which involve a collision between a vehicle travelling straight through the junction and a vehicle turning into or out of the minor road; they form about two-thirds of the accidents that occur at rural 3-way junctions.
