Abstract

Seamless care between prehospital ambulance services and EDs is an integral part of emergency medical services (EMS). To monitor and improve the quality of EMS, the clinical course of patients who were transported to the ED by ambulance should be accurately tracked. St John Ambulance Western Australia (SJA-WA) is the sole emergency ambulance service provider in Western Australia (WA) and records all ambulance attendances. ED data are collected through the Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) covering eight public hospital EDs in the Perth metropolitan area. (Author/publisher)
