Abstract

The need for increased efficiency entails better use of existing communication channels. Moreover the development of integrated circuits has now made possible improved systems, that were formerly unpractical because of size and number of components. The application of new techniques is found mainly in telephone channels, but high-frequency ionospheric channels have also been equalized. Systems for communication designed expressly to combat multipath propagation are reviewed.
