Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine which Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) has the largest potential road safety effect on the second order road network (SRN). In the first part road crashes on SRN-roads are described and analysed, and an overview has been prepared of present and future ADAS devices. Then we determined the effect of the most likely ADAS on the traffic process (road safety and efficiency). In the second part we used micro simulation to quantify the effects on traffic flows and road safety after ISA's introduction in the SRN. This paper shows the most important results.
