Abstract

This article validates the accuracy and position update rate provided by 3 different global positioning system (GPS) receivers used in traffic studies. GPS receivers with high accuracy and fast rate are usually costly and require commercial data services. Interpolation techniques are provided for transportation engineers to eliminate the discontinuity in GPS data so as to enhance data quality for traffic studies. (Author/Publisher)
