Abstract

Development and testing of an advanced automotive crash recorder system is described. The device is biaxial, solid-state, and utilizes a special portable data retrieval accessory for data collection in the field. Reliability at low cost, accuracy, and ease of operation were major design goals. The product retains both precrash and postcrash acceleration/time history information.
