Abstract

Transport industry is faced with new economical and societal challenges. New concepts like sustainability, contribution to improve the environmental world-wide situation, comfort, security, etc., joined to traditional economical requirements like competitiveness and productivity must now be approached. Three of the main factors to cope with the new requirements are the materials used in the vehicles as well as their manufacturing and recycling processes. The paper covers some of the alternatives developed to offer transport industry lighter materials with better performance and competitive ness in terms of cost (A). For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD E212343.
