Abstract

As with many Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects, the institutional issues confronting Advanced Metropolitan Transport Management (AMTM) are at least as challenging as the technical issues. Among the most crucial issues are those concerning interagency relationships. The various agencies have different goals, objectives, and capabilities, all of which must be understood and then brought into alignment to make AMTM a reality. Other issues include traveler behavior and attitudes, privacy concerns, relationships between the public and private sectors, and various legal. It will be essential to find and cultivate champions both inside and outside the transport community to address these issues. For the covering abstractsee E134653.
