Abstract

Today UK road users are safer than they ever have been, even though the level of road traffic has increased. However, there is still room for improvement. About 53 percent of injuries are associated with the head and 28 percent to to lower extremities. Computer modelling confirmed that these two areas represented the most significant areas where potential improvements could be made. This study examined ways of improving pedestrian safety when they come into contact with vehicles. (A)
