Abstract

Currently in japan, a public road traffic information delivery system called vics (vehicle information and communication system) is widespread, butits data format lacks generality and functionality, and its broadcasting environment has issues of sending large amount of advanced road traffic information. An advanced road traffic information delivery system is proposed. this system uses terrestrial digital broadcasting to mobile terminals to improve the bandwidth and packet loss error rate. Moreover, this system uses xml(extensible markup language) based data format to improve generality and functionality. Furthermore, from the characteristic of the terrestrial digital broadcasting network, it is proposed to use communication linkto compliment the broadcasting network. It is demonstrated that the proposed system can deliver rich road traffic information efficiently and effectively.
