Abstract

The ASSET-Road Website: www.project-asset.com was updated in several iterations during the project until end of 2011. Different public videos and films from international TV stations and flyers from the different test sites were included. The recommendations of the EC expressed during the final audit in 2011 were considered by including a public deliverable and a list of the main important innovations of the ASSET-Road Project. Within the framework of the ASSET-Road project a great number of well prepared and god attended events, workshops, TV video presentations and meetings took place in which the work of the project partners and the results of the project have been presented and discussed. However, the different kinds of events had a different degree of success: * The usual, conventional way of exchanging information and knowledge, inviting a greater number of experts and scientists working more or less on a similar topic to an event which takes place in connection with another content-related conference or congress, has not led to the desired effect in this case. * Often the number of invited guests and the number of those participating diverged greatly. The explanation may be that there is obviously an excess supply of such events for researchers and certain saturation may have been reached. Thus, invitations which do not directly match one’s own focus of interest are not considered any more. * Even specifically organized events for participants from interested public authorities, e.g. the user group meeting in Budapest, attracted at least more guests than participant ASSET-Road partners. However, the opening events of the German test site and the Finnish test site met great response. They also arouse intense media interest since traffic flow monitoring tools for the police forces have been developed and provided within the framework of the project. Such events are always attractive for the audience and very interesting for the general public as each road user may be concerned. If even politicians or other public figures can be won and will participate, the attractiveness of the event especially for the press rises considerably. (Author/publisher)
