This paper describes a conceptual framework for an Advanced Traveller Information System for Elderly and Disabled Persons (ATIS-E&D) encompassing the E&D traveller, an ATIS-E&D database, and transport mode data. It discusses the components of the database and interactive technologies and technical aids connecting the traveller with the database; describes an interactive, in-terminal info-kiosk developed within the framework; and outlines the results of its evaluation at a Canadian airport. The paper also considers future expansion of the database for use in other transportation terminals across Canada. (A)
